Um sismo "raso" (pouca profundidade: 7km) e de magnitude 5,2 (moderado) foi sentido às 4:32, hora da Madeira, com epicentro na latitude 32.19 N e longitude 16.92 W, sul do Funchal. 55km). Equivalente ao Sismo de 7 de março 2020 que ocorreu às 20h58, com magnitude de 5,3 na escala de Richter, registado com epicentro a sudoeste da Deserta Grande a uma profundidade de 4,7km.
Os dados de diversos centros vão saindo sobre o sismo de hoje:
- O Instituto Geográfico Nacional (IGN) da Espanha, relata que o terremoto ocorreu na quarta-feira, 16 de fevereiro de 2022, às 4h32, horário local, a uma profundidade muito rasa de 5 km.
- Centro Sismológico Europeu-Mediterrâneo (EMSC) listou o terremoto de magnitude 5,7.
- Centro Alemão de Pesquisa em Geociências (GFZ), relatou o mesmo terremoto de magnitude 5,3.
- Google: Sismo de magnitude 4,8, Funchal - 40 km distante do epicentro 04:32
